We trade livestock, fertilizer inputs, and agricultural commodities.
Mountain Steppe LLC connects large producers and buyers of livestock, fertilizer inputs, and agricultural commodities — between the former CIS and markets in Europe, the USA, Argentina, and South Africa.
Who we are
01 — AboutMountain Steppe LLC trades livestock, fertilizer inputs, and agricultural commodities between producers and buyers. Our value is the relationships and the network we maintain on both sides of a deal, and the work of making sure a transaction actually closes cleanly.
The company is new, but the people behind it aren't new to this. Between us, we've spent decades working across the natural resource sector — livestock, fertilizer, and agricultural trade — before bringing that experience together under one company. We're direct, we're careful with documentation, and we stay involved from first inquiry through delivery.
The name comes from Kazakhstan's landscape — highland ranges giving way to open grassland that has carried livestock and trade for centuries. The company's roots are Kazakh; today we're headquartered in the United States, trading globally.
What we trade
02 — SectorsLivestock Export
We connect producers of live cattle and sheep with buyers abroad, and help coordinate the parts that make an export actually happen — veterinary certification, quarantine, and carrier selection.
Fertilizer & Industrial Inputs
We connect producers and buyers of the raw inputs behind the fertilizer supply chain — including sulfur for sulfuric acid production used in phosphate fertilizer manufacturing, alongside nitrogen and potash-based products.
Agricultural Commodities
We connect producers of grain, oilseed, and other agricultural commodities with international buyers, and help structure contracts around realistic harvest and shipping calendars.
Where our network reaches
03 — RegionsWe maintain relationships with producers and buyers across the following regions. Reach varies by sector and by contact.
Kazakhstan, Russia, and neighboring states — where most of our sourcing relationships are based.
Fertilizer and agricultural buyers across Western and Central Europe.
Industrial and agricultural input buyers we're in contact with.
Agricultural trade contacts supporting cross-hemisphere timing.
Fertilizer and livestock buyers in the Southern African market.
Leadership

Jamila Jaxaliyeva
Director, Mountain Steppe LLCJamila holds a Master of Forestry from Yale and spent eight years in the livestock export sector before founding Mountain Steppe — working hands-on with customs, certification, and logistics, and directly with the farmers and producers on the ground. She's also the founder of Steppelands Foundation, a working-lands conservation nonprofit connecting Kazakh herding traditions with the American ranching community. That firsthand experience — and the network she's built across both worlds — is what she brings to every deal, from first inquiry through delivery.
Jamila is backed by a small team with decades of combined experience across the natural resource sector — colleagues who worked in livestock, fertilizer, and agricultural trade long before Mountain Steppe existed.
